Staff Picks

Do you currently have a valid will?

Only 44% of adults surveyed do, even though most of us have good intentions about making one.  I had made my own simple will using the Nolo Quick & Legal Will Book several years ago, and I needed to update it.  Even so, there is something about this project that brings out the procrastinator in me.  After I checked the book out, I always seemed to have other projects that needed to be done first.  I ended up renewing the book twice, and actually finishing the will the night before the book was finally due.

Nolo books are all written in clear, easy to understand language with plenty of examples.  The book comes with a disc that opens in any word processing software.  You just fill in what you need.  I finally did get it done, and I’ll find a notary this week so I can have a self-proving affidavit (you’ll read about those in the book—it means my witnesses won’t have to appear in probate court because their signatures are already proven.)  I feel so much better now that it’s done.  Now I can concentrate on all my other projects!
