Forsyth County Honors Library Director Jon McDaniel

At their meeting December 3, 2015, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized Jon McDaniel, who is retiring from his position as director of the Forsyth County Public Library.  Jon was presented with a proclamation from the Commissioners praising his 40 years as a librarian and his 20 years as FCPL Director.  The proclamation made note of his many achievements during his tenure, including the expansion of the library system from one small building to four busy branches (among the busiest in the state) and an administration building.  After the proclamation was read aloud by Commission Chairman Pete Amos, the audience gave Jon a standing ovation.

However, the presentation was not yet complete.  In a surprise to Jon, Library Board Chairman Mary Helen McGruder announced that the library’s administration building would be named the Jon McDaniel Administration Building.  When she unveiled the plaque, the Commissioners extended their gratitude to Jon and the audience gave him a second standing ovation.

Congratulations, Jon, on these well-deserved honors.
