Library Limelight: Presley Dyer, Cataloging Specialist, Library Headquarters

Library Limelight is intended to be a quick read to help FCPL patrons get to know our librarians and staff.  We hope you enjoy learning about the people who make our libraries great!

Presley Dyer
Cataloging Specialist
Library Headquarters

Where is your hometown?
Hiawassee, Georgia
How long have you been at FCPL?
2 years
What other jobs have you had at FCPL?
Just this one.
Why did you choose to work in a library?
It is a career in which I can be around my love of the arts while being in a structured, organized environment.
Describe your job in five words or less.
Very detailed. Requires much concentration.
What is unique about your job?
I am responsible for patrons’ access and what they see in the catalog. I ultimately get to decide where an item is located, as well.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I get to see all the new materials, so my to-read list is never ending.
What’s the most interesting place you’ve lived or traveled?
Pompeii. It was an incredible and indescribable experience to see human beings frozen in time from two thousand years ago.
What are your hobbies?
Besides reading and movies, I am a big restaurant foodie. My goal is to try to eat at all of Atlanta’s 50 best restaurants.
What are you reading right now?
The Circle by Dave Eggers. The movie comes out this month, starring Tom Hanks.
Paper books or eBooks?
Both.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I really love working at FCPL. I work with great team members, and I have been able to learn so much from them.
