The author states, …”you have reduced the fat, reduced the sugar, reduced the carbohydrates, and certainly reduced the flavor of your meals. You have counted calories, counted inches, counted pounds and counted on each diet being the last one you’d ever try. You have eaten mindfully, eaten organically, eaten locally, and eaten your way through more diet books then you’ are to admit.” Oh, yeah all in the name of getting healthy. I can relate.
This is not a diet book but a lifestyle change. A way to live without heartburn and stomach pain. The author gives eye opening information about how the body works hard to try to keep the gut balanced so we can feel well. She talks about boosting our immune system to keep things balanced. The information is easy to understand and has a list of key points at the end of each chapter for review. Sprinkled throughout the book are testimonials from people that have made simple (some dramatic) changes that have transformed their lives.
I like the “teaspoon Tracker” formula tool. The author makes label reading easy and tracking sugar in foods easy to locate. She has three simple rules to eat by. There is a two-week eating plan to get you started and 70 recipes. I’ve tried a few of the breakfast meals with my family and they loved it. The dinners look like ones my family will enjoy. I’m excited to try the things I’ve learned in this book about getting a healthy gut.
