Cumming Library Set to Reopen on December 6, 2019

The reopening of the Cumming Library has been moved to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6.

“We regret any inconvenience to our patrons and we appreciate the patience they’ve shown during the renovation project,” says Branch Manager Denise Leeson.

The building has been closed since October 14 as workers moved books and shelving, painted interior walls, and replaced carpet, tile, lighting, and fixtures. A delay in the delivery of flooring and trim material required library officials to extend the closure by four days.

For the convenience of patrons who wish to return books and materials to the Cumming Library, the outdoor book drop remains available. Materials can also be returned at the Hampton Park, Post Road, and Sharon Forks libraries.

“We understand that our patrons are eager to get back into the Cumming Library, and we’d like to thank them for visiting our other three branches. Members of our Cumming Library staff have been working at the other branches during the renovation and they’ve told us what a joy it is to see and talk with their regular patrons,” says Leeson.

When the Cumming Library reopens on December 6, visitors can take a guided behind-the-scenes tour, join in a scavenger hunt to explore the library, search for the hidden geocache, or enjoy a winter story stroll in The Secret Garden located behind the library. Children and adults can also make simple holiday crafts to celebrate the library’s reopening.

“We’ve missed our patrons and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Cumming Library,” says Leeson.
