Where is your hometown?
I grew up, got married, and raised my family in Indianapolis.
How long have you been at FCPL?
I started in May of 2018, so about two and a half years.
What other jobs have you had at FCPL?
This is the only job that I’ve had at FCPL.
Why did you choose to work in a library?
After teaching middle school and then high school, I decided that I wanted to try something different when my youngest started college. A YA position opened up at a local library, and it seemed like working at a library with teens would be a great fit. I could work with teens and books!
Describe your job in five words or less.
Amazing, fun, crazy, inspiring, nonstop
What is unique about your job?
I have the privilege of working almost exclusively with teens in programming. I love working with the TAB [Teen Advisory Board] group at Sharon Forks. The teens are inspiring.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is sharing book ideas with patrons and awakening their interest in a different author or genre.
What’s the most interesting place you’ve lived or traveled?
Before moving to Georgia, we lived in Colorado for four years. While there, I took up skiing, hiking, and even went parasailing off a mountain in Golden, Colorado.
What are your hobbies?
My husband and I love to travel. My favorite trip was a whitewater rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. We stayed overnight in tents on the Colorado River with the Grand Canyon as a backdrop.
What are you reading right now?
I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez.
Paper books, eBooks, or audiobooks?
I love all three. I collect paper books for my library, use my Kindle for travel and most of my reading, and listen to audiobooks on my commute to work.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I work with a great team in Youth Services at Sharon Forks!
