Play and Learn at Post Road

Last year, the Post Road Library added an exciting new feature to their Children’s Area - the Play n Learn Table

Geared towards preschoolers, this activity station emphasizes important early childhood concepts, including numbers, letters, shapes, fine motor skills, and pretend play. The table also encourages children to practice their “soft skills,'' such as sharing, taking turns, playing together, and picking up after themselves.

The librarians pick different themes, such as dinosaurs, colors, or sea creatures, and create unique learning challenges for each one. The station remains out all the time with new themes every month and new activities every 2-3 weeks.

Watching adults sit and do the activities with their children, snuggling close and smiling while practicing their counting or sorting skills, never fails to bring a smile to the librarians' faces.

Some favorite activities have been bug identification, counting ice cream scoops, sorting fruits and veggies by colors, and practicing with laces and zippers.

If you haven’t yet, please stop by the Post Road Library to get in on the fun!
