It's time to Touch a Truck!

Young patron on police motorcycle, 2022
Touch a Truck is April 7 from 1:15–3:00 p.m. at Fowler Park. We asked Shannan, Youth Specialist at Post Road, for the inside scoop on this year's event.

What is Touch A Truck?

Touch A Truck is an awesome exhibition of all kinds of transportation.  It is an opportunity to get up close and personal with super-cool vehicles of all sizes, shapes, and descriptions that you might not encounter on a regular basis.

What makes Touch A Truck special?

Touch A Truck provides access to a wide assortment of vehicles that are rarely in the same place at the same time.  Patrons are encouraged to explore vehicles and have all their questions answered by owners/operators who are on hand to demonstrate vehicle features and explain functionality.  But what truly makes Touch A Truck super special is that all of the participants have volunteered their time and vehicles for this exciting and educational community event that patrons of all ages can enjoy.

Can you give us a little preview of what kinds of vehicles will be there?

Expect to see commercial, private, military, public safety vehicles, and more.

What vehicle are you most excited to see?

I am excited to see all of them!

Any past favorites making returns this year?

There are so many wonderful vehicles returning that it would be impossible to choose a favorite; however, I do have a soft spot for Loanie, the FCPL Bookmobile, who will be there to greet our amazing patrons.

Any tips for first-timers?

Definitely give yourself plenty of time to see all the vehicles.  Our participants have to leave promptly at 3:00 p.m., so if you arrive late there might not be enough time to see each and every one.

Bring a camera.  You will want to capture the expressions on little faces as they light up with pure joy and excitement.

We hope to see you there!
