Updated Library Statement Regarding COVID-19

All Forsyth County Public Library locations are now open with expanded hours. Current hours are posted on the library's website at

Visiting the Library in Person

Beginning Thursday, September 3, all library visitors will be required to wear a mask for the duration of their visit, including children ages 5 and older. Patrons who do not have a mask may request a free, disposable mask at the main entrance of each library branch.

Patrons should limit their visit to 30 minutes or less, maintain social distancing while inside the library, and follow any posted directional signs in tight spaces.

Drinks and food may not be consumed for the duration of your visit to the library.

Book Drops are Open, Returned Materials No Longer Held in Quarantine

Beginning Thursday, November 19, FCPL will no longer hold returned materials in quarantine.
When FCPL first instituted the practice of quarantining materials, there was less certainty about how COVID-19 spread. Based on further research from public health agencies, such as the CDC, there is greater confidence that the virus is spread primarily from person to person, rather than through contact with contaminated surfaces.

Indoor, walk-up, and drive-thru book returns at all four Forsyth County Public Library locations are now open and ready to accept books, CDs, books on CD, DVDs, and read-alongs. Other materials, such as oversized and Interlibrary Loan materials, may not be returned in the book drops and should be returned during the library’s operating hours to the Ask Us desk or bins designated for this purpose inside the library.

Contact-Free Curbside Pickup

Contact-Free Curbside Pickup is available at all four Forsyth County Public Library branches. Appointments are required to request items and pick them up. Learn more about Contact-Free Curbside Pickup.

eLibrary Services and Ask a Librarian

The eLibrary remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide patrons with access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and many eResources.

FCPL Academy provides helpful online tutorials for many of these resources. If you need assistance with any of these resources, or if you have any questions at all, please email us through our Ask a Librarian service

Access Free WiFi in Library Parking Lots

We realize that many library patrons depend on the library for WiFi internet access. WiFi access is available in the parking lots of all our branches from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, including weekends. Any patron using WiFi in the parking lot must remain in their vehicles.
