Meet Author Dion Leonard and Gobi at the Post Road Library!

Finding Gobi: A Little Dog with a Very Big Heart by Dion Leonard

Looking for a book with a touch of adventure and suspense but filled with compassion and hope? It's fitting that a book about a little dog with such a big spirit contains so much within it. If you're into marathons or sports, if you like dogs, or if you enjoy reading about international affairs, you'll enjoy this intriguing story.

Meet author Dion Leonard and his canine companion, Gobi at Finding Gobi: The Inspirational and True Story at the Post Road Library on December 6, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

Dion Leonard, an ultramarathon runner from Edinburgh, encounters a spunky little dog in the middle of a race across the Gobi Desert and Tian Shan mountains in China in 2016. The dog just naturally seemed to take to him—and only him—following him around and snuggling up with him during a night's rest. Once Dion heads out again, the dog reappears, keeping pace with him despite the rugged terrain. Fearful for his well-being, he arranges with some race monitors to keep him secure while he finishes the race. Upon completion of the race, the little dog gleefully reunites with Dion and sets the scene for the rest of the story.

Not to share too much of the story, but the book will take you through many frustrating, yet intriguing, episodes dealing with international bureaucracy, suspicious characters, and welcoming strangers. Meet many of the fans and people who helped take care of and support both Dion and Gobi as they attempted to make a life together.

Dion Leonard and his dog Gobi will be at Post Road Library on Wednesday, December 6 starting at 7:00 p.m. for Finding Gobi: The Inspirational and True Story. Join us for a personal account of their story, and meet the "little dog with a big heart," Gobi!
