Reading Rules is a book club that is designed for homeschooled students in grades 3 through 6. Other children who are available in the early afternoon are also welcome. This month, we'll focus on the book Amos Fortune, Free Man by Elizabeth Yates. Amos, a 15 year old, was captured by slave traders from Africa and brought to Massachusetts and sold at auction. This is a compelling story about his life and his quest for freedom. Amos's fight for freedom began to materialize by the time he was 60 years old. This is a true story that won a Newberry Award.
