Touch a Truck is April 7 from 1:15–3:00 p.m. at Fowler Park. We asked Shannan, Youth Specialist at Post Road, for the inside scoop on this year's event. 

What is Touch A Truck?

Touch A Truck is an awesome exhibition of all kinds of transportation.  It is an opportunity to get up close and personal with super-cool vehicles of all sizes, shapes, and descriptions that you might not encounter on a regular basis. 

What makes Touch A Truck special?  

Touch A Truck provides access to a wide assortment of vehicles that are rarely in the same place at the same time.  Patrons are encouraged to explore vehicles and have all their questions answered by owners/operators who are on hand to demonstrate vehicle features and explain functionality.  But what truly makes Touch A Truck super special is that all of the participants have volunteered their time and vehicles for this exciting and educational community event that patrons of all ages can enjoy.

At the heart of professional wrestling is storytelling. In its simplest form, good guys compete against bad guys. In its more complex form, years of wrestling history can influence storytelling beats and crowd reactions. It's theater and includes costumes, acrobatics, and a great deal of showmanship. The more you know about professional wrestling, the more you’ll recognize the nuances of the storytelling; however, previous knowledge is not required. Professional wrestling is a spectacle all its own with flips and glitz abound.

Exciting Partnership Between FCPL and the Georgia Farm Bureau!

Did you know that March 20-24, 2023 is Georgia AG week? It helps raise awareness of the agricultural industry in Georgia. This is an annual event planned around the GFB’s book of the year. The 2023 selection is I Love Strawberries! by Shannon Anderson.

The Post Road Library is contributing to the event with a video sharing American Sign Language signs that coincide with the book. The video features Tracey Varrone and Amanda Tate, who present the library’s monthly ASL program, A Show of Hands. The video is available until March 24 and can be accessed by the link below.

Think back to when you were a teen or preteen and all the changes and drama that took place as you were coming of age. Now imagine coming of age during a possible apocalypse. That is the premise of Karen Thompson Walker’s book The Age of Miracles. The novel is a beautiful blend of coming of age story and apocalyptic fiction. Staff Picks The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Daré

From the first page, The Girl With the Louding Voice broke my heart. I had put off reading it for this very reason–I thought this book would leave me feeling emotionally spent. The incredible thing about this book, however, was that the author's exquisite prose and powerful characters took me through that heartbreak and left me feeling like the world can, at the same time, be a beautiful and hopeful place.
