I am always thrilled to learn something new while reading a book. Full of Beans is a great historical fiction book set in Depression Era Key West. While you follow Beans on his many schemes to earn money for his family (and treats), the history of Key West and how it became a tourist destination are revealed. This juvenile book by Jennifer Holm is perfect for kids in grades 3-5, but this grown-up loved it, too.
