The Killing Floor by Lee Child
In 1997, Lee Child’s novel The Killing Floor introduced readers to an oversized, blues-loving, ex-military drifter named Jack Reacher. For more than two decades Reacher’s adventures have captivated readers in Forsyth County and around the world. FCPL patrons constantly tell me how much they love the Jack Reacher series. Reacher, a 2022 Amazon Prime Video adaptation, updates the original story for modern viewers and is drawing even more readers to the Jack Reacher fan club.
Both The Killing Floor and the Reacher series take place in Margrove, Georgia, a small town with big secrets. When Jack Reacher's arrival coincides with a horrific crime he winds up the prime suspect. As the violence escalates, Reacher has to quickly figure out who he can trust. Two things fans seem to love most about Jack Reacher are his sharp insights and his "no regrets" approach to dealing with the bad guys.
If you're new to the series check out The Killing Floor. Existing Reacher fans can look for Better Off Dead, the 26th and latest book in the series, co-authored by brothers Lee and Andrew Child.
