Learn How to Write Historical Fiction


Love writing and/or reading historical fiction? Come and learn all about it from the best! Join authors Rona Simmons and Dr. Piper Huguley for their program, How to Write Historical Fiction on Monday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cumming Library. They will discuss the process of researching and writing historical fiction novels.


Rona Simmons is the author of A Gathering of Men, a novel based on the real account of three boys with a love for flying and the men they become, fighting for the US Army Air Forces in World War II. The Military Writers Society of America awarded a gold medal to this novel, in addition to Simmons's The Other Veterans of World War II: Stories from Behind the Front Lines.

Dr. Piper Huguley has written two historical fiction romance series in addition to By Her Own Design: a novel of Ann Lowe, Fashion Designer to the Social Register, the true story of Ann Lowe, the granddaughter of slaves and renowned fashion designer of Jackie Kennedy's wedding dress. By Her Own Design was a Booklist top 100 Editor's Choice selection for 2022. The American Library Association's Reading Council selected the novel as the historical fiction winner for 2022.
