Last month over 1,500 patrons attended Forsyth County’s 3rd annual Lunar New Year Celebration at Sharon Forks Library in partnership with OneForsyth. Lunar New Year is celebrated by many parts of Asia to welcome the arrival of Spring. The library's celebration highlighted various aspects of Asian culture and included thirteen performances of dancing, singing, instruments, stand-up comedy, youth coding presentations, martial arts, and more.
Greeters distributed traditional red envelopes at the door, and patrons were offered popular Asian snacks to take home. Attendees enjoyed making paper crafts like paper chain snakes and traditional paper cutting, and they could practice their calligraphy skills on paper fans. Patrons loaned items representative of Asian culture to be put on display that included a lovely tea set, hand-painted paper fans, zodiac figurines, and several framed paintings.
I loved seeing how ecstatic the community was to attend these festivities this year. May 2025 bring you all happiness, prosperity, and good luck!
