Volunteer Spotlight: Diane Head, Sharon Forks Library

Volunteer Spotlight is intended to be a quick read to help FCPL patrons get to know our volunteers. We hope you enjoy learning about the people who donate their time to help make our libraries great!

Where is your hometown?
My hometown is Rolla, Missouri.
How long have you volunteered at FCPL?
I have volunteered since March 2017.
Why did you choose to volunteer for FCPL?
I've always loved books and, in another life, I might have become a librarian.
What is your favorite part of volunteering at FCPL?
I love being around books and surrounding myself with them.
What’s the most interesting place you’ve lived or traveled?
The most interesting place I've visited is Australia. It's a lovely country with great people. We visited a very rainy Tasmania, but didn’t see any Tasmanian devils.
What are your hobbies?
I love to read and enjoy writing middle grade fiction. I also like to walk along the river and watch wildlife or get creative with new recipes.
What are you reading right now?
Right now I'm reading books by Janet Evanovich and Lois Ruby.
Paper books, eBooks, or audiobooks?
I only read paper books!
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I taught elementary school for 40 years and considered sharing literature with the children one of the best parts of my job.
