Register for Winter Reading Fun on December 19!

Registration for Winter Reading Fun begins on December 19. This fun, free reading challenge will run from Tuesday, December 19–January 21.

Use your Beanstack account to sign up for this challenge and log reading and activities. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one here to be ready for the start of the challenge on December 19. Keeping up with Beanstack is easy using their mobile app, Beanstack Tracker, so please consider downloading this free, useful tool.

We are excited to introduce Winter Reading Fun trading cards as incentives for our Kids’ Winter Reading Fun Challenge. Our staff had a great time creating a series of nine Puppets of FCPL trading cards featuring some of our favorite puppet show stars. We can't wait for your child to collect them all!

How It Works

Participating is easy. Read books and earn points. A minute read equals one point. For younger readers, it may be best to log books for 20 points each (usually babies and preschoolers). Earn 400 points to complete Winter Reading Fun. There are 34 days in this reading challenge. Read 20 minutes a day for 20 days and you will be done! Read to your child and you both can count the minutes!

TWO FUN CHALLENGES

To make things super easy for your family, we have created two age group reading challenges instead of four.

Kids’ Winter Reading Fun – Children from babies to 5th grade

• Repeatable activities – We have three fun repeatable activities for your children that earn 10 points each time they are earned:

• Act of Kindness

• Try Something New

• Visit the Library

• Registration incentive – Get a prize simply by registering! Children up to 5th grade will receive the library mascot trading card for their branch library and 9-card trading card keeper page.

• Receive eight more trading cards every 50 points earned up to 400 points to fill your card keeper page!

• Earn 400 points and you will be automatically entered in grand prize drawing.

Teen & Adult Winter Reading Fun – Teens (6-12 grade) and adults

• Get a vinyl sticker of your choosing every 100 points you earn up to 300 points.

• Receive a coupon for one book from the Friends & Advocates Bookstore when you earn 400 points.

• Earn 400 points and you will be entered in grand prize drawing.

Grand Prize Drawing – No Tickets!

No need to worry about tickets for Winter Reading Fun. You will be automatically entered in the drawing for your age group and library branch. We have a set of grand prizes for each age group at each library that will be on display soon:

• Preschool: Melissa & Doug Safari puppets

• Elementary: Lego City Arctic Ice Glider set

• Teen: Iron Flack Sports Water Bottle

• Adult: $25 Amazon gift card

Grand prizes will be drawn on Monday, January 22, 2024.
