Community Author Spotlight Kicks off September 5 at Post Road Library

Forsyth County is home to many published authors. Forsyth County Public Library is fortunate to have a wealth of authors willing to share their stories.

In September, FCPL will begin shining a spotlight on our talented neighbors in a new series featuring authors and books from our Community Authors Collection.


The Community Author Spotlight begins with a visit from Daniel Blackman, author of Nationalism Without Compassion on Thursday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Post Road Library.

Mr. Blackman is a human rights advocate, a venture-philanthropist, a member of Leadership Forsyth, and a resident of Forsyth County. He has been a guest lecturer at many universities throughout the country. Mr. Blackman states that his first published book, Nationalism Without Compassion, "focuses on what unites us as a nation rather than divides us as a people."

Copies of Mr. Blackman's book will be available for purchase at the Community Author Spotlight event.



The Community Author Spotlight shines on Dr. Linda Wiley on Thursday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Post Road Library.

Dr. Wiley will discuss her book Tame Your Tongue & Transform Your Relationship. Copies ofthe book will be available for purchase at this event.

Dr. Wiley is a certified relationship specialist with years of experience coaching, counseling, and giving relationship advice on the radio. Her book helps readers identify which of the four tongues is most characteristic of your communication style and how it impacts others. Learn tips and techniques to help you speak health, happiness, and success into all of your relationships.

Dr. Wiley is the founder and CEO of Turning Point Leadership Group LLC, an innovative performance improvement company that specializes in diversity management, leadership development and, relationship management. Dr. Wiley has worked in the U.S. and abroad developing and delivering interventions for clients of all sizes and disciplines from individuals to Fortune 50 companies. She is a Certified Diversity Executive through the Society for Diversity and the vendor of choice for their members in need of diversity and inclusion training. The training she wrote for Tennessee Valley Authority won an award from the Chattanooga Chapter of SHRM. She is also a Certified Relationship Specialist through the American Psychotherapy Association.


The Community Author Spotlight shines on Justin Joseph on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Post Road Library.

Mr. Joseph will discuss his experience as a writer and will read from his new book, They Come From the Mountain, a collection of supernatural short stories. Copies of Mr. Joseph's book will be available for purchase at this event.

Justin Joseph is an American author who writes supernatural terror. He has been writing (and drawing) since childhood when he first saw the card series Garbage Pail Kids. Since then, he is never without pen and paper, always creating.

His first publication, The Hurricane Party, was a Kindle Book Review Award Nominee. His short stories, poetry, and illustrative work have been published in numerous magazines. His love for writing and creating is only bested by his love for his wife and daughters.

Admission to each event in the Community Author Spotlight series is free and open to the public. Copies of each featured book will also be available for purchase and signing. Library patrons may also check out these books from the library's Community Authors collection.
