Read Your World: A Diverse Books Reading Incentive Program for Grades K-12

This month Forsyth County Public Library launches Read Your World, a new reading incentive program for students in grades K-12 that encourages reading diverse books to help elementary and teen readers explore and learn about the world around them.

Why diverse books?

Reading diverse books allows readers of all ages to see themselves in a story. Diverse stories and characters offer a valuable window into other cultures, people, and ways of life that helps readers to build understanding while also highlighting what we have in common. Finally, reading diverse books helps to build community and create opportunities for discussion.

How does this reading challenge work?

First, register for Read Your World at forsythpl.beanstack.org.

Then, track your reading to complete at least 5 of the 6 challenges (or earn 50 points) by August 31, 2021 to earn a prize.

Each month offers a new challenge, but you don’t have to read the challenges in order. Select the challenges that are most interesting to you! Loving the books you’re reading? You can complete challenges as fast as you’d like. If you want to read one book a month, that’s great! If you want to complete all 6 challenges in a month, that’s great, too!

What are the challenges?

Each month we’ll focus our reading on a different topic. You can read along with us following the schedule below, or skip ahead, if you prefer.

There are no assigned books, but we provide suggestions to help you get started in the links below:

What are the prizes?

The first 150 participants who complete 5 of the 6 challenges will earn a Read Your World T-shirt! Other great prizes await participants after the first 150 who complete 5 of the 6 challenges, as well.

Read Your World t-shirt prizes will be available for pick up beginning May 1, 2021. Participants earning other prizes will be notified via email regarding prize availability and pickup.

Thank you, sponsors!

Read Your World is sponsored by Meme Gerena, Keller Williams Community Partners, and North Georgia Promotions
