Library Limelight: Lacey Wood, Information Specialist

Where is your hometown?

Buford, Georgia 

How long have you been at FCPL?

I have been at FCPL a little over two years. 

What other jobs have you had at FCPL?

I have not had any positions other than Information Specialist. 

Why did you choose to work in a library?

I have always had a passion for helping people and enjoy being able to help our patrons in a different capacity from what I do in my other career as a social worker with developmentally disabled individuals. In addition, I’ve always found libraries to be a comfortable and welcoming place and enjoy the ambience they offer.

Describe your job in five words or less.

Problem-solving, creativity, enthusiasm, organization, and communication 

What is unique about your job?

Being able to make a difference! 

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of the job is being able to interact with our patrons and being able to make a difference in their day. 

What’s the most interesting place you’ve lived or traveled?

My senior year of high school we went to Israel for Christmas. It was a fascinating trip and the perfect time of year to go! 

What are your hobbies?

My favorite hobby is spending time with family (especially my niece and nephew!) I also enjoy fishing, boating, reading, listening to music, going to the movies, and of course, shopping! 

What are you reading right now?

I am currently reading The Comfort Book by Matt Haig

Paper books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

I prefer eBooks! 

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I love my job and am grateful to work with such talented people. I often find myself in awe of the talent and passion of the staff here at FCPL!
