Jewish Book Month was started in 1925 by Fanny Goldstein at the Boston Public Library to celebrate Jewish books and promote Jewish authors.
Here are a few of my favorite books by Jewish authors.
People of the Book by Geraldine BrooksThis eye-opening and intricately plotted historical fiction novel chronicles the journey of an illuminated manuscript through seven centuries of Jewish persecutions. It's one of my favorite historical fiction novels.
While award-winning author Walter Mosley is best known for his crime fiction featuring Easy Rawlins, my favorite Mosely story is The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, the story of a 91-year-old African American man whose life takes a very strange path.
Fleeing from professional and romantic disasters, a desperate mother explores the Alaskan wilderness along with her two young children in this darkly comic novel by best-selling author Dave Eggers.
