In honor of Jewish Book Month here are a few more of my favorite books by Jewish authors.
The Familiar by Leigh BardugoLeigh Bardugo’s The Familiar is an immersive historical fantasy novel about a sassy scullion who hides her Jewish ancestory as well as her magical abilities during the Spanish Inquisition. I loved this mesmerizing and thought-provoking story.
Franz Kafka’s work was so unique it earned a special term - Kafkaesque. As in Kafka’s short story, The Metamorphosis, his novels The Castle and The Trial also place characters into unusual situations involving alienation and warped justice.
The Lost Writings published in 2020, contains English translastions of 74 short pieces and offers interesting insights into the author’s writing process.
Devolution is an escapist thriller that includes historical research and eye-witness reports relating to the fictional Rainer Sasquatch Massacre that will leave you wondering if you're prepared for a bigfoot encounter.
