Our Favorite Seasonal Children's Books

Thrilled to be a first-time aunt, my sister gifted us a unique picture book when my son was young.

Auntie Claus and the Key to Christmas by Elise Primavera

When things seem dark and dreary – if times turn sour and bitter – think like a Kringle! You’ll soon find your way to all that sparkles and glitters!

Glamorous Auntie Claus spills some intriguing Kringle family secrets to a skeptical nephew who tests his theory Santa’s BB and G (Bad-Boys-and-Girls) list and ignores warnings about the society of PRUNES (Parade Rainers United National Elite Society).

Elise Primavera's Auntie Claus books are filled with humor and fun illustrations.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss

He took the Whos' feast!
He took the Who pudding!
He took the roast beast!

The green one with a heart two sizes too small enlists his little dog Max in cancelling Christmas in Whoville but has some misgivings when his simply wonderful awful idea fails to have the desired impact.

Published in 1957, Dr. Seuss’s delightful rhyming classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! remains my all-time favorite Christmas book.

You can see I was star-struck when the Grinch himself stopped by to spread some Christmas cheer one December evening at the Sharon Forks Library.

What are your favorite seasonal books?
