Quilting at Cumming Library

The Cumming Library has had the pleasure of displaying the “Bookshelf Quilt” completed by the members of the Piecemakers Quilt Guild, a representation of their 40 years of quilting together. The guild’s purpose is to promote and perpetuate the art of quilting in the community. The quilt went up in mid-August and will remain up through the end of September.

This beautiful quilt is designed like a bookcase and is filled with labeled book spines and trinkets you would find on bookshelves at home. Patrons have loved studying the detailed design and intricate handiwork, stopping by our desk to share their amazement and appreciation of it. We have enjoyed studying it and sharing in the wonder with others who have seen it.

In addition to displaying a quilt with us, the Piecemakers Quilt Guild will be having an Introduction to Quilting program with us in October. Due to the nature of the program, there will be very limited seating, and tickets will be handed out to the first to arrive. However, if you can’t make it you can reach out to the Guild to learn more about their craft at PieceMakersGA.net. If you have not been to the Cumming Library at 585 Dahlonega Street recently, please stop by and see the quilt and tell us about your favorite part of it!
