Meet Katie LeDuc, FCPL's October Library Limelight!

Ever heard of a “joyful community book fairy”? You have now! Allow me to introduce the newest member of the FCPL Outreach team, Outreach Specialist Katie LeDuc! She uses that creative moniker to describe her job at FCPL in five words or less.

Hailing from Granby, Connecticut, Katie is a lover of education and reading, which she says makes the library the perfect place to be. Those two passions prompted

her journey with FCPL, which began in the fall of 2018 at Post Road Library, where she served as a Youth Specialist. In June of 2019, she followed an overseas opportunity to teach English that kept her busy in Hungary and Mexico until July of 2023, when she returned to the United States. FCPL was pleased that she decided to continue her library journey by joining the Outreach team. Katie thinks FCPL is “amazing” and is beyond excited that she was hired (again!) to do her dream job!

When we asked Katie to describe her favorite part of her job, she shared some moving words. “I am always honored when community members, my tiny people or my precious older people, share important parts of their lives with me. I understand how hard it can be to be vulnerable like that and I appreciate the trust that our patrons have with me and my coworkers. I love being the person that feels like a safe place. Someone they can share their hurts with, but also the person that gets to hear about the best parts of their days!”

When Katie isn’t doling out books, joy, and pixie dust from the Bookmobile, Lobby Stops, or Golden Hour programs, she enjoys reading, martial arts (boxing and judo), cooking, and traveling. As a matter of fact, Katie has traveled to an impressive 32 countries, including Hungary, where she lived in the capital city for 3 years! How fitting that she serves the Forsyth County community with the Outreach Department as something of a library ambassador.

Katie’s all-time favorite book is The Great Gatsby, and if she could read it anywhere in the whole world, it would be a campsite near Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior in the fall when all the leaves are changing color.

Katie is a talented, knowledgeable, and valuable addition to the library, and FCPL could not be prouder to have her as a part of the team!
