Gods and heroes, magic and true love--this book is an epic fantasy. But the central problem, whether there can be truth and reconciliation after a long history of atrocities, is what kept me turning the pages. I wanted to know! I wanted to point to the pages and say, “See? Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” But then the book ended with a cliffhanger, albeit one with the hope of resolution. Needless to say, I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy.
